Paul L. Gimenez is a native of the United States Virgin
Islands with roots in the Caribbean going back for 5 generations
both in the British and American Territories. A graduate
of the University of Texas School of Law (1986) and St.
Johns University in Collegeville Minnesota (1983), Paul
has devoted most of his professional career to public service
in the Virgin Islands. After a short stint with the State
Bar of Texas and 2 years in private practice, Paul began
his employment with the Government of the Virgin Islands
where he served in such capacities as Counsel to the Attorney
General, Solicitor General and Chief Legal Counsel to the
Governor. Paul has also served in the capacity of Acting
Chief Negotiator, Acting Director of Gaming Enforcement,
Acting Deputy Attorney General and for short periods of
time, Acting Attorney General. During his tenure with the
Government Paul represented the Government successfully
in several high profile cases and has been involved directly
or indirectly in virtually every major litigation involving
the Government from 1988 until 2003. He has also served
on several Boards and Commissions as a gubernatorial appointee
including the Law Revision Commission where he served as
Chair and currently serves as Vice-Chair. Paul is a member
of the State Bar of Texas, the Virgin Islands Bar Association,
the Federal Bar Association, V.I. Chapter (past President
and current National Delegate), and is a member of the Bars
of the Supreme Court of the United States, the Third Circuit,
the District Court of the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Territorial
Court of the Virgin Islands.
